Colleges
may see more high schoolers - Easton district
seeks grant to help students taste higher education
Attend
college while in high school and be reimbursed
for the tuition?
That could be in store for some Easton Area
High School seniors this fall in a dual enrollment
program the school board is expected to approve
Thursday.
Susan McGinley, director of support services,
said high school students could enroll at Lehigh
Valley colleges for credit courses knowing that
all or part of their tuition would be reimbursed.

Learn
how to strengthen family bonds
Parents and caregivers with children between
10 and 14 can sign up for the Strengthening
Families Program, a research-based program intended
to build communication and strengthen family
bonds. The free program involves one session
per week for seven weeks, starting Wednesday.
After a shared meal, parents and youths meet
separately the first hour, then come back together.
The sessions are intended to help parents build
on their strengths in showing love and setting
limits. Youths are intended to develop skills
in handling peer pressure and building a positive
future.
Raised for education - Midway's new superintendent
gets to work
The joy and electricity in the air were unmistakable
the day Midway Independent School District began
its honeymoon with a tall, lean and good-humored
man from College Station.
No one questioned that it was a match made
in some kind of educational heaven -- 45-year-old
Brad Lancaster, formerly assistant superintendent
for Allen Independent School District, was treated
to a ceremonious welcome as the district's new
superintendent by approximately 800 Midway faculty,
staff and administrators.
