NEW HAVEN -- The Edward Zigler Center in Child
Development and Social Policy at Yale spring
lecture series opens Friday with Richard Colvin,
director of the Hechinger Institute on Education
and the Media, Teachers College, Columbia University.
His topic is "Moving into the Mainstream:
Will Journalists' Coverage of Early Childhood
Education Lead, Follow or Stand in the Way?"
Other topics include Julia Kim-Cohen, assistant
professor, Yale University Department of Psychology,
"Genes and Environments in Promoting in
Children's Resilience: What are Implications
for Social Policy?" Feb. 23, and Jocelyn
Mackey, assistant professor, Department of Psychology,
Southern Connecticut State University, "Skin
Tone Preferences and Ghanaian Youth: The Doll
Studies Revisited," March 30. Lectures
begin at 11:30 a.m. Fridays in Harkness Hall,
Room 119, 100 Wall St., and continue through
April 27.
