Colleges rank high on list of education bargains

Three Washington state colleges are among the best values in public education, according to Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine.

The University of Washington, Western Washington University and Washington State University were among the magazine's annual ranking of the top 100 schools for excellent academics with minimal in-state and out-of-state costs.

The University of Washington ranked No. 9, Western Washington No. 48 and Washington State No. 73 on the 100 Best Values in Public Colleges list.
